IS YOUR GOLF CLUB ‘BOG STANDARD?’

GMG and their authorised supplier Waste & Washroom Ltd have teamed up to support an initiative backed by Prostate Cancer UK to raise awareness and improve Facilities for Male Health and Well-being

This important campaign aims to address the often-overlooked issue of male incontinence and ensure that golf clubs across the country offer suitable facilities to support those affected.

Male incontinence is a common yet under-discussed condition that impacts the lives of millions of men worldwide. The campaign seeks to break the stigma associated with male incontinence, raise awareness, and improve the availability of discreet and hygienic disposal solutions at golf clubs, enabling men to enjoy the game with confidence and comfort.

Scott Partington commented, "At GMG, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and well-being in the golfing community. Golf is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages, and it is crucial that clubs provide the right facilities to ensure every member feels comfortable. By backing the BOG STANDARD campaign, we are addressing a critical need for male incontinence solutions, which are often overlooked in public and recreational spaces."

Waste & Washroom, a trusted partner of GMG, will play a key role in this initiative by supplying high-quality hygiene solutions, including specialised disposal units and products designed specifically for male incontinence. This partnership ensures that golf clubs will have access to the best resources to maintain a clean and supportive environment for all players.

The initiative will also include educational resources for golf clubs and members to promote understanding of male incontinence, encourage conversations around male health, and reduce the stigma that prevents many from seeking support.

Research reveals men are limiting their lives because of incontinence,

More than two-thirds of men (66%) have said that they find the constant planning and organisation around ensuring adequate toilet and bin access ‘utterly exhausting’

Two-thirds of men (64%) have not been able to attend a major life event due to incontinence, over a quarter (27%) have missed weddings and one in five (19%) have missed funerals

This research shows we need to do more to support these men, particularly in a golfing environment when members are away from home the challenges for those members around incontinence are real and need support. GMG in partnership with Waste & Washrooms believes golf clubs can easily offer support by becoming BOG STANDARD!

BOG STANDARD is an initiative driven by Waste & Washroom in support of Prostate Cancer UK, its purpose is to encourage organisations to provide washroom facilities that cater for men living with incontinence, allowing them to dispose with dignity and live their life to the fullest.

"This is about more than just improving facilities; it’s about creating an environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and included." Partington added.

Peter Jones, 76, from Watford, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2018. His treatment was successful in removing the cancer but left him with incontinence,

"If there were bins everywhere, it would have helped me so much. I would have gone out so much more, it would have made such a huge difference. Nobody can see that you’re wearing a pad, but if you’ve got nowhere to put the old one that is where the stress comes from”.
