Summer Market Report 24

How is the current market?

Many golf clubs have taken advantage of 2024’s lower wholesale energy prices. The below graph shows how electricity has fallen since Nov 22.

This has meant that many golf clubs are in a much better position with regards to their energy bills.

However, the market is on the up, with prices having increased since the lows in February 2024.

With the coming winter expected to push prices higher, we recommend securing your clubs new deal as soon as possible.

Future market outlook

The graph below shows a curve of where the market is predicted to be. The expected increases over the next 12 months could leave you in a much worse position compared with securing now.

We are able to secure prices for start dates of within the next 12 months and more, ensuring that these increases don’t affect your club.

We are advising clubs to secure for a minimum of 2 years, this protects the clubs against a potential higher market over the next few years.

What to do next?

Does your energy contract end in the next 12 months? The Energy Club are here to help. There are hundreds of energy tariffs available and many suppliers to choose from. A lot of these don’t include future non-commodity increases, such as TCR costs. At the Energy Club, we pride ourselves on being transparent about all costs, and only offer Fully Fixed tariffs, so there will be no shocks with rates going up during the contract period. If a club requires green or renewable sourced energy we have a wide range of suppliers now offering options. All we need is a recent energy invoice and we can do the rest.

Do you think you are being overcharged for your water?

The Energy Club now has the ability to offer clubs a free water audit to ensure their costs are correctly charged, all you need to do is to take your water supply via GMG’s chosen supplier and once live you will be entitled to a free audit

The main issue clubs seem to be seeing is the return to sewerage % charge, we can go back up to 5 years to get these costs refunded. This is done on a no win no fee basis, with all the costs for site surveys, mapping, negotiations and disputing claims being funded by Everflow. 50% of all claimed costs will be returned to the club. With savings applied going forward.

The average refund to a customer is £1,840 on overcharges with savings going forward being applied to your account. Get in touch for more information.

How do I reduce my consumption?

The Energy Club have multiple options to reduce your consumption and reliance on the grid. Whether it is a quick fix, such as boiler controls or LED/smart lighting, to larger projects such as solar, the GMG Energy Club can advise you on what is best. We are offering clubs FREE consultation calls to discuss how we could help your club. If you would like one of these, please contact [email protected]. We will need a recent invoice to have an idea of the club’s consumption.
